Colourful world?

How do i know the colour i see is the colour you see. Example, im looking at an apple and i see the colour red and call it red but another person might see it as a green colour but gets taught that the its red.

  2. I wonder this ALL the time! You can't know for sure, and no one will ever be able to know unless we figure out some way to do a brain transplant! Whenever I try to explain this to my friends they are all soooo sure I'm talking about colorblindness. I'm glad someone else wonders this! Like what if what I see as red is what someone else sees as my purple, but they call it red too! Maybe that's why what's gorgeous to some people is ugly to others and some people are great at color coordinating and others just fail miserably. Hmmm.

  3. I'm sure if you were to push it, you could compare the stimuli that the eye picks up on the retina from the colour shown and which part of the brain that it co-responds to. To see if there would be any difference between the actual word relating to the colour or the visual ques that incorporate the signal to be processed by the brain that indicate that this is *blue* this is *red* etc. Rather than saying the word, which could mean something completely different.

    That's only if you were to really push it though...
