Colts Cricket Club in command - Sri Lankan Premier League Tournament Tier A
Badureliya Sports Club’s first innings was wrapped up at 132 runs in reply to Colts Cricket Club’s total of 200 in the ‘Sri Lankan Premier League Tournament Tier A’, being played at Colts Cricket Club Ground, Colombo from 29 April to 1 May, 2011.
Colts Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bat first on a batting friendly wicket. Their openers got off to a reasonable start, scoring 44 runs for the first wicket but lost the second wicket just after 14 runs.
Their Captain and opener Malinda Warnapura was holding one end when Kushal Janith Perera joined him at the crease.
The duo added 30 runs for the third wicket before Warnapura was declared leg before wicket off Alankara Asanka Silva, the skipper had accumulated 52 runs.
The biggest partnership of the innings was witnessed between Perera and Roshen Silva, the pair posted 53 runs.
Roshen contributed 48 runs and the whole team was bowled out at 200 in 64.3 overs.
Ranesh Perera was the destroyer from Badureliya Sports Club. He grabed six wickets, Gayan Sirisoma took three wickets while Alankara Silva claimed one wicket.
Badureliya Sports Club replied with a reasonable first wicket stand of 36 runs but could not consolidate their innings, losing three wickets at 48.
Sahan Wijeratne was the only batsman who resisted the tide when wickets kept on sliding at the other end, unable to withstand the lethal bowling attack of the Colts.
He shared a nominal partnership of 29 runs with Ranesh Perera for the eighth wicket and a 30 runs partnership with Sirisoma for the ninth.
Sahan remained unbeaten on 36 runs off 122 balls when the whole Badureliya Sports Club was sent back at a total of 132 in 58.4 overs.
Kanishka Alvitigala was the star performer from the Colts Cricket Club by clinching five wickets, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sajeewa-Weerakoon-c87976 pocketed four wickets while Ishara Amerasinghe took one.
Colts Cricket Club has attained a valuable lead of 68 runs, they will be looking to build on it and aim towards victory.
