Colts’ quarterback Peyton Manning's recovery gains momentum – NFL News
Indianapolis Colts star quarterback Peyton Manning’s recovery from a neck surgery is reported to have gained momentum giving birth to his team’s expectations that he might be able to play for them this season.
Manning who matters most for the Colts has not played a single game or practiced due to his neck injury this season, and the latest news on his recovery awoke his team from their winless streak all of sudden to hope for his return.
The Colts are the only winless team in the National Football League (NFL) this year and return of Manning can turn the tables for his side. They have played 13 games losing all of them. Three more games are left for them to finish
off current regular football season.
Colts coach Jim Caldwell on Wednesday said that Peyton Manning had started throwing the ball but did not confirm if the player would join them in practice this week.
Peyton after being allowed by his doctor to intensify his workout said that throwing more was the next step in his recovery.
"That's what he does," Caldwell said when asked about throwing the ball. "They have been working with him in that area. That's part of it, but it's nothing revolutionary."
His doctor commenting on his latest scans results said that his recovery was on track and the player was allowed to do more workout.
"His rehab is increasing, it's ramping up a little bit," Caldwell said. "But in terms of (practicing) today, no."
The player had neck surgery in September this year and has been nursing his injury since then. Earlier reports confirmed he was definitely out for rest of current season despite that the Colts continued to keep him on their active
roster.
His absence even prompted his team management to look for his replacement from April next year. Their vice chairman Bill Polian confirmed that all options seeking Manning’s replacement would be considered from April 2012.
The Colts are playing their next game on Monday night and if Manning joins his side for practice on Friday he might be able to play in their next game.
