Colts’ quarterback Peyton Manning denies having draft pick discussion with Polian – NFL News
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning who has been on the sideline nursing his neck injury since September this year has denied having been engaged in conversation with the Colts vice chairman Bill Polian over their draft
pick choice for next year.
Peyton who had been cleared by his doctor to intensify his workout after encouraging scans results said that he had nothing on his mind with regard to his football future in the longer run.
Colts vice chairman Bill Polian had said in a radio programme that he had a conversation with the injured Manning about their next year’s draft pick and using him at his quarterback position.
Manning however in his talk on Friday following his statement about the doctor's clearance and his chances of comeback denied having such a conversation with Polian.
"I will say that he and I have not had a conversation about the 2012 draft," Manning told reporters. "Bill keeps a lot of the players informed on different things, but I've never known who we were going to draft in years past.
It (shouldn't be) insinuated that he checks with me. I'm not in personnel. I don't do personnel. I've had no conversation about the 2012 draft. Especially, I think that's inappropriate to even think that I would have during the 2011 season while we're playing."
The Indianapolis Colts being the only winless team so far and placed at the bottom of National Football League (NFL) deserve the top pick in next draft season, 2012. Stanford player Andrew Luck who has emerged as an undisputed
top draft prize so far is projected to be signed by the Colts. It however will depend on the player's decision and choice for opting to be a professional footballer.
Polian had said that the Colts will look for Manning's replacement from April next year, including drafting a rookie. He went on to say that he had discussed the idea with Peyton and has his backing to it. Polian even said that
the Colts might be able to afford to hire and pay Manning’s draft replacement while keeping on the active roster.
Manning however denied to have had any conversation with Polian on the Colts’ plans for draft choice.
