  1. go to their website and read up on it.

  2. I'm not sure if you are asking if you are required as a student at Columbia to take a foreign language, or if you are asking if you must take a foreign language in high school in order to be a successful candidate for admission to Columbia.

A forgeign language in high school speaks volumes to the sort of education. It is not required for college admissions but is advisable in the way of the "well rounded student," and the degree to which it is helpful in so many other areas of study, particular.

The degree program at Columbia will determine if a foreign language is required. If you plan to take a foreign language in college, some background from high school will help tremendously.

"Chorus" in a foreign language will likely not be acceptable as a foreign language. Singing and learning songs in a foreign language is not the same as the broad study of the language. A chorus program of this type would serve to support and bolster a foreign language course, but in and of itself by definition is not a language course.
