We are members of a group that eats out once a month. We try to go to unique and really good restaurants, but since we are new to the area, we don't know where to suggest when it is our turn to pick. Any help will be appreciated. Please tell me what you like about the restaurant you suggest. Thanks again.

  1. Mongolian Grill over on Sawmill I believe. I love to select my foods and have them cook for me!

  2. Ruth's Chris Steakhouse!

  3. It really depends on what kind of food you like and what part of town you're in, plus what price range you're looking for...there are a lot of good restaurants in town for all budgets. Some that I like for groups -

    Cheap:

    - Mac's in the Short North: casual bar atmosphere, inexpensive, burgers, fries, nachos, some scottish dishes. They'll let you hang out all night and are open late.

    - the Red Door on West 5th Ave.: It's been there forever, lots of local specialties, great value, pie from Der Dutchmann, etc.

    - Benevolence in the Short North: everything is made from scratch, all vegetarian, everything available vegan.

    Mid-Range:

    - Cafe Istanbul at Easton: cool Turkish decor, awesome food for everyone from carnivores to vegans, good service.

    - Alana's on North High: locally grown and natural food, great risotto that changes every day, nice ambience in an old house.

    - Spagio in Grandview: Excellent service, wide-ranging menu that will easily accomodate special orders, creative menu items.

    Splurge:

    - Hyde Park on the Cap: awesome steaks, but everything on the menu is wonderful.

    - The Refectory on Bethel: the reputation for being a place for old folks is undeserved - cozy ambience, great French food with surprisingly updated twists.

-Z Cucina on Grandview: modern italian, contemporary decor, not as loud as most of the other Grandview Avenue places.
