Columbus Blue Jackets attempt late comeback, fall to Chicago Blackhawks 6-3 -NHL Match Update
Just when it looked like Chicago could not have had it any worse by having lost their last three matchups straight, the Blackhawks rebounded and killed the Columbus third period rally to overtake the Blue Jackets and snap their losing streak, 6-3, Thursday
night,  November 10, 2011, at the Nationwide Arena in Columbia, Ohio, United States.
Columbus continued their extremely disappointing losing streak by now having lost three in a row ever since the month of November kicked off and still have yet to reach double digits in terms of points (5) while all other teams have at least 10 or above.
"Any mistake we (make) it just ends up in the back of the net", Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman, James Wisniewski, said. "A lot of guys are hanging their heads, which we have to get over. We just have to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and start playing
some hockey".
Chicago Blackhawks captain, Jonathan Toews, kicked off the scoring by added his sixth of the season 6:54 into the opening period. He was closely followed by Columbus’, Grant Clitsome, who potted his second on their first power play opportunity of the period
as Chicago’s, Viktor Stalberg, was booked for hooking.
Toews added his second of the night and levelled the matchup with less than three minutes to go in the first period to force an intense second round.
It was all Chicago the next period as Andrew Brunette and Steve Montador took advantage of a power play that carried over from the first period and Clitsome being penalised later on respectively.
Patrick Kane widened the gap even further for Chicago with his goal at the 18:54 mark, which had the Blue Jackets scrambling to get a hold of themselves with the pressure.
"We just wanted to try and wear them down and discourage them a little bit", Toews said of the Blue Jackets. "We knew it wasn't about what they do as a team, it was more about us being prepared and getting back to the way we play".
Marian Hossa scored the insurance goal for Chicago 32 seconds into the final period while Mark Letestu added the Blue Jackets second of the night, followed by Clitsome to bring the lead down to three now, but with less than four minutes remaining, it was
too late to make a comeback and force an overtime extension.
