  1. Fast-forward to today. Led by captain Rick Nash, who was selected first overall by the Jackets at the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, the team is in the midst of a resurgence. Their record currently stands at 14-6-0, which has placed them first in the NHL’s Central division with 28 points. They are currently on a five-game winning streak, earning their most recent victory with a 4-3 defeat of the reeling New York Islanders in overtime. The Jackets have certainly done that, and the proof is in their winning record. The stellar play of goaltenders Garon and Steve Mason gives them a chance to win every time. Both have stolen many a game for the team, and have given the Jackets some quality netminding.
