Columbus Blue Jackets look for a third straight win as they square off against the Pittsburgh Penguins
Another one of the games of Tuesday will be played at the Consol Energy centre as the home team Pittsburgh Penguins will be playing host to the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Jackets are looking for a third straight win in what will be the second
and last encounter between the two teams during this season. The last game which took place on the 4th of December 2010 saw the Penguins come up with a gem of a performance as they thrashed the Blue Jackets defence.
During the match Captain Sidney Crosby and Paul Martin both rose up to the occasion and scored two goals each as the Penguins came up with a crushing 7-2 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Both teams are in good shape ahead of the game. Although the Penguins lost their last game this Sunday but with the hard work and consistency that they have shown during the season so far justifies the fact that they are still in the running for the top
spot in the Eastern Conference. Pittsburgh Penguins have been absolutely amazing even though they have been playing without their two big stars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin who are out due to injury.
Columbus Blue Jackets on the other hand have finally started to come up with wins and things are only getting better for them. Currently, they are out of the play-off spot but by a small difference of just five points. If they win this game then the gap
would be cut down to just three points and the race to finish in the play-off spot would heat up even further.
Andrew Murray has been one of the revelations for the Columbus Blue Jackets during the course of the season. Though some of you might argue to this might he has certainly proved his worth as Blue Jackets maintain a very decent record when he plays and suffer
heavily when he isn’t playing. Murray has scored 4 goals and made 8 assists in the 20 games he has played so far and was one of the main reasons which guided the Clue Jackets to win against the Detroit Red Wings this weekend.
"I've told Andrew I can't guarantee he will play every night," Coach Scott Arniel told the Columbus Dispatch, "but to be prepared when he does go in. He's got a good mindset. If he's not playing, he doesn't hang his head. He's an upbeat kid. I just like
the fact that he understands his role and plays it to a T."
Columbus Blue Jackets have played 52 games in the season so far out of which they have won 25 games in regulation time and 5 in overtime scoring 55 points. However, Penguins have played 54 games so far out of which they have won 34 games in regulation time
and 4 games in overtime scoring 72 points.
Pittsburgh Penguins have exceeded expectation as they have managed to come up with results even without the presence of two of their most talented and productive players in Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby.
"They're our two best players," defenseman Zbynek Michalek told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "We miss them. But we've shown we can play well without them."
The match is going to be very exciting and entertaining with both teams battling it out hard as they are in good shape to come up with a win.
