Columbus Blue Jackets play host to Florida Panthers in the second and the final meeting
Columbus Blue Jackets will host Florida Panthers at the Nationwide Arena in another game on Tuesday. This will be the second and last game between the two teams during the course of this season.
The last game between the two teams was played on the 19th of January 2011, a game which the Blue Jackets won 3-2 in overtime with RJ Umberger scoring the winning goal.
Both teams are facing some problems in the department of offence as they haven’t been able to score goals lately.
Both the teams with weak offence have faced a lot of setbacks that have resulted in both teams offensively very weak in the last four of their games.
Both are out of the play-off picture but would be looking to win and move up the standing to finish in a respectable position as the regular season draws to a close.
In the last game against the league leaders, Vancouver Canucks, it faced a 4-1 defeat while Florida Panthers after a tough game against Pittsburgh Penguins lost the game 2-1 in the end after a shootout.
The last game saw Panthers coming up with a decent performance during the course of the game where they created chances for themselves and defended pretty well.
Though the Penguins were the favourites to win the game but the struggling team showed glimpses of brilliance that put them in a good position.
The scores were level at the end of regulation time and overtime but the Panthers emerged as winners of the game after shootout. Coach of the Panthers, Peter DeBoer, was very happy over the team’s performance which saw them winning in the end.
"That's as good a road game as we can play as a group," he said. "I thought we limited their opportunities. We got shots … but our fourth line gets us a goal and we can't find a way to find another one."
Panthers have played 76 games during the course of the season out of which they have won 29 games in regulation time, 11 games in overtime which have resulted in them scoring 69 points.
Blue Jackets, on the other hand, have played 75 games during the season out of which they have won 33 games in regulation time, 11 games in overtime to score a total of 77 points.
The last game against Canucks was a hard fought contest where the Blue Jackets restricted the league leaders to a single goal as the score was 1-0 as the final period started.
However, Canucks with some strong and unmatched offence scored three goals to win the game 4-1 in the end comfortably.
"We just couldn't score, couldn't bury it," Umberger said. "We peppered them with shots from everywhere. We had a lot of rebounds. It's frustrating when you get those chances and don't score."
