Columbus Blue Jackets play host to the Colorado Avalanche- NHL Previews

Columbus Blue Jackets will be hosting the Colorado Avalanche at the Nationwide Arena which will be the third meeting between the two teams during the course of the season.
The previous two meeting took place last year which have seen Colorado win both games 5-1 respectively.
The game is all the more exciting considering the fact that the Colorado Avalanche is one point behind the Columbus Blue Jackets in the Western Conference.
With both teams looking to win and strengthening their chance of making it into the play-offs makes constituents for the game to be even more interesting. The stage all set for the game to be a very tough and fierce encounter as both teams would be settling
for no less than a regulation time win.
Colorado Avalanche was going through some of the best times in the season until consecutive losses piled up.
Avalanche has been disappointing in many ways with the restricted plays and not extending the game and using full length of the ice.
This has affected them adversely as they lost the five consecutive games. In their last game against Minnesota Wild this Wednesday, Avalanche lost the game 3-2 after making a superb start to the game.
However, they couldn’t capitalise from the start which has been the case in the last few games and the result was same in this game as well, a loss.
The thing that would surely hurt the Colorado Avalanche after the loss is the fact that they lost the game to their Division rivals and suffered injuries to two of their key players in Kyle Cumiskey and TJ Galiardi.
The problems keep piling up for Colorado as their goalie, Craig Anderson, will also be missing from the game after he returned home to Denver due to personal reasons.
However, after the loss David Jones said, "I think there's some things we can take as positives from tonight," said Jones. "But the bottom line is it's another loss."
Both the teams have played 54 games so far in the season out of which Colorado Avalanche has won 25 games in regulation time, 6 games in overtime and have scored 56 points.
On the other hand, Columbus Blue Jackets has won 26 games in regulation time, 5 games in overtime and scored 57 points.
Columbus Blue Jackets has been on quite a role which saw them winning three consecutive games after which they lost their most recent game against the San Jose Sharks this Wednesday. Columbus Blue Jackets took an early lead after scoring two goals during
power play.
However, they couldn’t manage to hold on to the lead and lost the game 3-2 in the end. It just didn’t seem to be their night as they made 44 goal attempts but still couldn’t score.
"It was a tough one," Columbus captain Rick Nash said. "We had a great first and then sat back after that and lost on a tough goal. We had a lot of energy in the first. In the second period they seemed to take it to us and take over the game."
This is one game of Friday which is going to be very interesting and entertaining to watch as both teams are close in the Conference and the fact that they are chasing a play-off spot makes it all the more exciting.
