Columbus Blue Jackets play host to the Phoenix Coyotesin the third of the four meetings between them this season
Another one of the important games of Friday is the Columbus Blue Jackets play host to the Phoenix Coyotes at the Nationwide Arena.
This is the third out of the four scheduled meetings to take place between the two sides.
Coyotes have won both the two games between the two sides, 4-2 and 4-3, respectively.
The Coyotes have a very strong record against their Friday’s opposition winning nine out of the last ten games between the two teams.
Considering the above fact m they can regard the Nationwide Arena as their second home considering the dominance during the recent history. If the Coyotes manage to emerge as winners of this game, they would resultantly win their seven games in a row playing
the Blues Jackets on their home.
The Blue Jackets on the other hand have won their last two games and will be looking to win their third game in a row and move up the tight Western Conference in their search for a play-off spot.
The Coyotes have been superb in the last few games as they won eight straight games before their encounter with the Tampa Bay Lightning this past Wednesday.
The game started off with the Coyotes now way near the performances they bagged during the course of the last eight games. The Lightning dominated the game as they went ahead by 7-0.
However, the Coyotes were able to score thrice but they lost the game 8-3 in the end.
Captain of Coyotes, Shane Doan scored the opening goal for the Coyotes. Not only this, but he played the most games for the Coyotes as he played in his 1099th game of his career with the Coyotes.
"For us to come out and hang (goalie Jason LaBarbera) out to dry like we did, it was unfortunate and disappointing," Doan said.
The Coyotes have played 62 games in the season out of which they have won 33 games in regulation, scored at least a point in nine games scoring a total of 75 points.
On the other hand, the Blue Jackets have played 59 games out which they have 30 games in regulation time; they have scored a point in at least six games and scored a total of 66 points.
The Blue Jackets are just four points out of the final play-off position. But the interesting thing is that they have dour teams between them and the final play-off position.
Blue Jackets won their last game against the Nashville Predators 4-0 this past Wednesday.
During the game, the goalie Steve Mason made 20 saves while Captain Rick Nash scored two goals. "The whole game had a playoff atmosphere to it - the first two periods were kind of a slugfest," Coach Scott Arniel said following the game.
