Columbus Blue Jackets plays host to Boston Bruins in their lone meeting of the season - NHL Previews
The third game of Tuesday will played at the Nationwide Arena as Columbus Blue Jackets play host to Boston Bruins.
This will be the lone meeting between the two sides during the course of the season.
The last time these two met was during last season where Blue Jackets managed to win with a slender single goal lead by 3-2 in the end.
Bruins is one of those teams in the league who maintained a very high success rate. However, their recent form has seen them drop points.
Once they were contending for the top spot in the league but now they are fighting to ensure that they finish in the playoff cut.
Bruins have also seen their Northeast Division lead cut down to just four points with their four consecutive losses. Canadiens with six wins out of their last seven games have been able to close on Bruins and from the looks of it they very well might take
the lead.
Blue Jackets, on the other hand, still have four points between them and eight teams that are still in contention of the playoff spots.
Blue Jackets have been going through the worse times in the season which has seen them losing seven straight games. However, this all is history as they managed to come up with an impressive performance against Montreal Canadiens to win 3-2 in the end.
The game and moreover the win gave the players a lot of confidence ahead of the upcoming games as they look to score crucial points which would strengthen their chances of making it into the playoff cut.
Steve Mason was ecstatic over the win and came up with decent performance during the last game.
"It's great. You really forget how it feels to win after seven losses in a row," said goalie Steve Mason, who made 29 saves against the Hurricanes.
Blue Jackets have played 68 games during the season so far out of which they have won 32 games in regulation time and nine games in overtime to score a total of 73 points.
Bruins, on the other hand, have played 68 games, out of which they have 38 games in regulation time and nine games in overtime to score 85 points.
Bruins is one of those teams in the league that has a very strong offence and can score goals every now and then.
However, the absence of players like Andrew Ference at the back has hurt them a lot. They were leading by two goals in both the last games which they lost as they gave away goals very easily.
The game will be very close given the poor form of the Bruins currently while Blue Jackets may be struggling too but they have nothing to lose.
