Columbus Blue Jackets plays host to Detroit Red Wings in the sixth and final meeting between them
The second game of Thursday will be hosted at the Nationwide Arena as the home team, Columbus Blue Jackets, plays host to Detroit Red Wings.
This will be the sixth and final scheduled meeting between the two teams during the course of the season.
Blue Jackets have emerged as winners of three games while Blues Jackets have won two games.
The most recent meeting between the two sides on the 4th of February saw Blue Jackets coming up with an impressive and dominating performance which saw them winning the game by 3-0 in the end.
Red Wings were up against Washington Capitals in their last game which saw them not as strong on paper as Capitals had won their last nine straight games.
Canucks are the first team in the league to pile up 100 points and Red Wings look like the next one to do it as they won the game against Capitals to register their third successive victory.
Red Wings came up with a decent performance which saw them winning the game by 3-2 in the end.
Henrik Zetterberg was struggling with form as he had come up with nothing impressive over the last 22 games played. In fact, he had scored only two goals during the last 26 games which came as a big setback for Red Wings and Zetterberg himself.
However, in their last game against Capitals, Zetterberg managed to put up all his skills on display as he scored twice during the game. In the end it proved vital as Red Wings snapped Capitals’ nine-game winning streak.
"Every time you're in a slump like that, you start to doubt yourself, so it's nice to see I can still score some goals," Zetterberg said. "It's been a while and you start to think too much and make bad decisions out there, so it was nice to get it out of
the way."
Red Wings have played 70 games during the course of the season so far out of which they have won 42 games in regulation time and eight games in overtime to score a total of 92 points.
On the other hand, Blue Jackets have played 69 games out of which they have won 32 games in regulation time and 10 games in overtime to score a total of 74 points.
Blues Jackets need points if they are looking to make their way into the playoff cut. They were able to score a crucial point this Tuesday despite suffering a 3-2 shootout loss to Boston Bruins.
"We're as happy as you can be without getting two points," Columbus’s coach, Scott Arniel, said. "I said to the coaches that was one of our best games in probably two or three weeks."
