Columbus Blue Jackets’ prospect Ryan Murray to miss the season after having surgery
Ryan Murray, a professional ice hockey player from Canada, who is also the prospect of Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL), will remain out of the action as he suffered an injury and now will have to go through a surgery on his shoulder.
The 19-year-old player was picked in the first round of the 2012 NHL Draft and made the headlines as he was selected second overall. He is also a bronze medallist of the 2012 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Championship with Team Canada and been
in a very good form.
It will definitely cost the Blue Jackets’ side as they have lost a very valuable player for whole of the season and that too at such an important time. Murray actually has to repair a librum which was torn in a collision with another player.
Scott Howson, the general manager of Columbus Blue Jackets made the announcement and showed disappointment on the player’s injury. He also stated that they will make sure that he gets fits once again as quickly as possible and gets the treatment which is
best for him. Howson said,
"Obviously this is disappointing. We have to move forward now. We have a clear answer on what needs to be done. We'll make sure he gets the proper medical care and attention, and we'll get him healthy as soon as we can. He's a huge part of our franchise."
The 6-foot-0, 198 pounder defenseman was also disappointed on his injury and told that he hit the player and it was the bad angle that he fell on, which resulted in such a serious injury. Murray said,
"I kind of hit him awkwardly, I guess, and fell down to the ice. As soon as my arm hit the ice, I could feel that my shoulder had popped out. It was really quick, I fell down, put my arm down and knew right away. It was kind of a freak accident."
The White City, Saskatchewan native has been doing very well for the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League (WHL) and scored 20 goals, 84 assists for them in 168 games, which earned him a total of 104 points.
