Columbus Blue Jackets’ right wing, Rick Nash, says not focused on talk of move to Rangers – NHL News
Columbus Blue Jackets’ right wing, Rick Nash, has played down the talk of his possible move to the New York Rangers before the trade deadline of February 27, 2012, saying he has left the things take care of themselves.
He said that he was still a Blue Jackets and is happy to remain with the side without being much distracted by the talk and consequent media chasing.
He said:
"You know, it's going to take care of itself."
Nash added:
"I'm a Blue Jacket right now. We're playing great hockey. It's fun to be around. It's been a tough year for us. But right now, when you're winning games, it becomes a different game."
The player has become the media’s focus as a result of recent speculations that he is in line for trade and the New York Rangers are identified to be his potential destination.
While refuting all the reports pinpointing his possible move, he said that he was focused on the day-to-day job, and is not carried away by what is in the offing.
The right wing said:
"You know, it's going to take care of itself. I'm a Blue Jacket right now. We're playing great hockey. It's fun to be around. It's been a tough year for us. But right now, when you're winning games, it becomes a different game."
He also denied that too much media attention was hurting his performance, and referred to his representation of Canada in Olympics for a couple of times and all the media pressure he had to face then, which, he said is, far more intense and demanding.
Blue Jackets are playing against the New York Rangers this Sunday, and presence of the managers from both sides together at the stadium will certainly add fuel to the fire around the possibility of Nash’s trade to Rangers.
Jackets’ general manager, Scott Howson, and other officials of the team will be at the stadium on the weekend and in case of the trade reports being credible, they will definitely capitalise on the opportunity to negotiate a deal.
The player has apparently attempted to side himself from all the developments and their outcome, and content in his role at Blue Jackets.
It is pertinent to mention that Nash has consistently outshined in his performance, and reached a few milestones such as scoring 30 goals in a season four times and 40 goals two times during his eight-year professional hockey league career.
This season has proved to be the toughest of all, which is equally a bad year for his team. The player has managed only 18 goals in 58 games that he has played so far this season.
Blue Jackets have also been through a rather dismal form, and are currently ranked at 30th position in the league.
