Columbus Blue Jackets solve St. Louis Blues goaltenders
The St. Louis Blues recently pieced together a seven-game winning streak conceding only six goals, and earning four shutouts along the way. But on Wednesday, 10 November, the Columbus Blue Jackets ran
wild, scoring eight goals en route to an 8-1 dismantling of the Blues.
How it happened
The Blue Jackets were on the board early and often, scoring three goals on 12 shots in the first period. Jaroslav Halak, starting in goal for the Blues, was chased from the game early in the second after
Jakub Voracek was sent in on a breakaway to score his second of the game and put the Blue Jackets up 4-0.
Ty Conklin then entered the game for the Blues, and although the Blues responded by getting a goal from B.J. Crombeen, in the end Conklin didn't fare much better than Halak, conceding two goals before
the period was out.
The Blue Jackets finished off their scoring early in the third period with two goals scored less than 20 seconds apart. With the game well out of reach, an obviously frustrated Blues team began to focus
less on playing hockey and more on getting their aggressions out with 84 minutes in penalties being assessed to both teams in the final period, including four separate misconduct penalties.
What they're saying
The Blue Jackets matched their team record for most goals in a game on the night and all but four skaters earned at least a point.

"It wasn't as big for me as it was for some players who were struggling to score goals," Blue Jackets head coach Scott Arniel told reporters after the game. "Lines got rewarded for hard work. We've had
individuals and lines that were working, getting chances and not getting the rewards from it. Tonight their hard work paid off. We stuck to what we wanted to do."
"It was fun tonight," Voracek, scorer of two goals and the game's first star, said. "It was good to finally score more than three goals in a game. I think we played good from the first minute. Everything
went in today, and I think we deserve it. All four lines were scoring goals today, which is important. I hope we are going to be the same way Friday."
That game on Friday, 12 November is against the Colorado Avalanche who have been giving up 3.3 goals per game – fourth highest in the NHL.
The Blues saw their seven-game win streak finally come to an end, but they're still tied atop the Western Conference standings. They have to bounce back quickly as they play on back-to-back nights and
now face the Nashville Predators at home on Thursday.
