Columbus Blue Jackets win 5-3 against the Phoenix Coyotes after falling behind early on

Another one of Friday’s encounters was hosted by the Columbus Blue Jackets as they were up against the Phoenix Coyotes at the Nationwide Arena.
A win for the Blue Jackets today would have put them just two points away from the eight spot in the Western Conference while the Coyotes were looking to win after they first loss in their last game in nine games.
The Coyotes made a great start to the game that saw the scoring score within the opening 10 minutes.
However, the Blue Jackets found a way back as they scored twice before the period ended to level the scores.
The Blue Jackets bagged more goals as the game ended with the Blue Jackets won the game 5-3 in the end.
Matt Calvert of the Blue Jackets was named the star of the game for scoring a hat-trick and an assist.
The Coyotes despite the away disadvantage made a great start to the game which saw them constructing some brilliant plays and getting past the opposing defence every now and then.
Coyotes were very strong offensively which resulted in them scoring in the second minute through David Schlemko to get in the lead.
The Coyotes continued with the strong attacking mentality which saw them coming across continuous scoring chances.
Coyotes were able to capitalise from this as they scored once again in the 8th minute through Radim Vrbata from a brilliant backhand shot to double their lead.
The period saw a change in the direction of winds as the Blue Jackets started to come up with some good plays too.
This resulted in the home team scoring in the 15th minute through RJ Umberger during power play to cut the lead to a single goal.
The Blue Jackets dominated the game after this which saw them scoring through Jakub Voracek in the 19th minute during power play to level the scores.
An amazing period ended with the scores level on 2-2 with both teams making a total of 21 goal attempts in the period.
The second period was even in terms of goal attempts but the Blue Jackets manage to edge out ahead of the Coyotes when it came to scoring.
The Blue Jackets scored in the 3rd minute during power play through Matt Calvert from a powerful strike to get into the lead.
Calvert scored once again in the 9th minute to double Blue Jackets advantage as the period ended with the Coyotes leading 4-2. During the period, the Coyotes made 11 goal attempts while the Blue Jackets made 13 goal attempts.
The final 20 minutes of play start off with the Blue Jackets on a high once again. This resulted in the Blue Jackets scoring once again through Calvert to complete his hat-trick in the 4th minute.
Both teams created chances and made goal attempts but it was Coyotes who scored in the 19th minute through Lauri Korpikoski to trail by two goals.
The period and the game ended with the Blue Jackets winning 5-3 in the end. During the course of the final period, the Coyotes made 10 goal attempts while the Blue Jackets made 9 goal attempts.
