  1. Los ninos estas pequenos.

  2. In Panama, it is not chambito, it is zambito, and it comes from zambo, a racial mixture from black and indian.  But when you call a kid zambito it has nothing to do with their race.  It is mostly used in the interior.

Most people just say pelao or pelaito.

  3. Niño/a is what they are called all over Latin America. In some parts of Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador children are sometimes referred to as "sipote/a". In Panama i have heard of kids being called "chambito", don't know if that is used everywhere in Panama though. In Costa Rica i have also heard people call kids "chiquitico", which is the same thing as "chiquitito" (little one). But, they use -tico to make things sound smaller; -tico is so widely used that they call themselves "tico/a". In Nicaragua they are referred to as "Chavalito/a" or "Chavalo/a" (for older kids and teens).
