Combi Boiler - Can I use an Inhibitor recommended for 'Indirect Systems'?

Most of the Inhibitors are marked 'For use with all indirect systems.' Would one of these be suitable for a Combi Boiler central heating system?

p.s. I did ask this question at two major plumbing outlets and they didn't know.

  1. yes the combi heating method is indirect, its that the heating and hot water dont mix in a tank as there isnt one

get the type in a mastic type tube so you can put it in through a radiator, need a mastic gun as well.

  2. yes if your system has steel rads and boiler has steel or cast iron heat exchanger. No if you have aluminium rads or aluinium heatexchanger. hope this helps

  3. Yes,and use either Fernox mb1 or sentinal x100.The concentrate type that can be used with the mastic gun will come with an adaptor so you can attach it to the heating side of the filling loop, you don't even have to drain the system down, just connect it and pump it straight in.

  4. An Indirect system was the older type wher your hot water came from a copper tank in the airing cupboard. All inhibitors do the same job, so it should be okay for you.
