Im in a WSi swim class and I have to teach the Combined Stroke.... WHAT IS IT??? (specifically on front side)

Is it the same as the Tridgen Crawl (freestyle arms w/ breaststroke kick?) or just any stroke on your front with any stroke for your legs?

  1. Refer to your Swimming & Diving textbook and your Water Safety Instructor's book.  Combined Stroke refers to a beginner's stroke that uses finning (back and forth hand/arm movements) or a variety of other arm movements with a beginner's flutter kick.   It is done on both the front and the back.  It looks kind of like what they used to call the 'dog paddle' when done on the front, and more like an inverted breastroke arm movement with flutter-kick when on the back.  It is usually used at the lower levels as a precursor to actually learning an over-hand crawl stroke.
