I have 2 packs of Nimh 9.6v packs, which contain 8 cells in each pack, i need to get a battery to run a 12v current,so my question is, if i take 2 cells from 1 of the 9.6v packs and solder them parallel to the other pack giving them 1.2v X 10=12v, can i still use the 9.6v charger that came with the 9.6v battery pack?

thanks in advance ;)

  1. No.  The 9.6 volt charger won't have enough voltage to charge a 12 volt battery.  Also, you need to connect the batteries in series, not parallel.  If you connect them in parallel, the smaller battery at 2.4 volts will drain the 9.6 volt battery, overheat, and be damaged.
