Combining last names for Marriage?

I heard about this "trend" ages ago about combining a couple's last names when they get married instead of the woman taking the man's name.

would you ever consider doing this?

my last name would become Blollis or Hoom ... lol

If it was popular, or even legal, you would see a lot of f***ked up names.

that is the worst idea i've ever heard.  my maiden name is McCloud, and my married name is Beene (pronounced Bean).  try to come up with a good one for THAT.  "McBeene" is NOT good.
