Question:

Combining two GPAs....?

OK, so I went to a school with the quarter system for a year and here is my GPA info:

Units Earned: 39

Grade Points: 121.2

GPA: 3.18

I then went to a semester-system college and here is my info:

Applicable Credits: 17

Applicable Grade Points: 68

GPA: 4.0

I am transferring soon and want to figure out my total GPA. I'm pretty sure it's 3.5...but after trying it a few times I got a headache. (Math isn't my strong suit) So some verification would be great. Thank you!

  1. GPAs from different institutions aren't cumulative. Except in rare instances when the schools are part of the same campus system (e.g. multicampus public universities and colleges). So in your case you will simply have a 3.18 from college A and a 4.0 from college B.

  2. This is the formula to figure out GPA

    Attempted   Earned   GPA    Grade pts. Gpa

       3 hrs           3hrs    3hrs      12            4         12/3=4

    A=4pt. B=3pt. C=2pt D=1pt F=0pts

    The only true way to figure out your GPA is look at your report cards and plug the numbers into the formula. Go through and find all your A's, B's, C's, D's F's and group them it will make it easier when you figure out Grade points. Then divide by Grade points earned.

    If  iknew how many coursed you took I and grades I can figure it out, Hopes this helps.
