Question:

Comcast DVR not recording properly?

A year and half ago we got a Comcast DVR (latest silver box), and it seemed to record all the shows we asked for it to record, with occassional some shows would show black screen and not play the show.

Well recently, we got an extra hardrive hooked up to the box, for extra storage of the recorded shows. And I think that ever since we did that, a lot of the shows that we wanted to record, the DVR only records some but not the whole show. Some cut off after few minutes, and some cut at 58minutes if it's an hour show. It is really frustrating. And my bf says that it probably means that we need to get a different extra hardrive. But I am thinking what if the box is going bad, since it was never that good from the beginning?

Anyone with same problems? Or similar? And any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

  1. yes it may be the show was noyt recieving a signal during the recording process

  2. you need to go in the setting of the box and change it. here how got to your MY DVR, SERIES PRIORITIES (if you have set as a series priorities) AND  SELECT THE SHOW THAT CUTS OF AT 58 MIN AND GO TO MODIFY SERIES SETTINGS AND THEN SELECT THE VIEW ALL SETTINGS  AND CHANGE THE STOP RECORDING YOU COULD TO THIS ALSO WITH ALL THE RECORDINGS YOU JUST HAVE TO CHANGE THE SETTINGS AND THE FREEZING ON THE SCREEN SIGNAL PROBLEM YOU SHOULD HAVE COMCAST COME AND CHECK IT. HOES THIS HELPS

  3. Go into the dvr setup.  I believe you will find a default that asks if you want it to record the show as is or as defined by each show.  If you look at, say, Gray's anatome it is often 1hour 2 min.  Your machine needs to be told it can do the whole show, not just an 60 min.
