Comcast Motorolla Cble Box?

I just purchased my own Motorola digital cable box (DCT 2000 series). I currently have digital cable service from comcast in my home and im renting one ( identical ) box from the cable company. I bought this box for my room so i would not have to rent another. I hooked up the wiring properly according to the owners manual. I get standard channels (2-80) through my box. My problem is any digital channels or channel guides do not load up onto my box. I dont think the box is communicating with my cable service. I was wondering if i can just call the cable company and have them update it for there service or can i do it myself. can anyone help?? I have been trying to do a hardware initalise to reset to box to stock but with no luch. there is nothing in the manual for that as far as i read.

you will have to call the cable company to have them send the proper signal thru to your cable box
