Comcast internet won't work with the comcast digital cable!! help?

Question

My mom just added digital cable and we hooked it up. Then i realized my internet stopped working. On the modem the power light was flickering but it didn't turn on, then i called and they didn't say anything.. blah. Finally after thinking and messing with everything I realized that on the splitter, the cable was only plugged into the cable box thingie, so i plugged it into the "in" place on the splitter. Now my internet works but my digital cable doesn't. What's wrong? help me please! Thanks.

plug your cable box on to the splitter as well as your internet and reset your box (unplg then plg back in)

"In" should be the cable from the wall

"Out" should be the cable(s) to the modem and the cable box.

A splitter has 1 "In" and multiple "Out"
