Comcast on demand says "available now" but the show is nowhere to be found?

For some reason this has really been irking me lately. The commercials that run in the background while browsing are advertising two items as available now. Neither are and I looked EVERYWHERE. Its been 3 days of the commercials taunting me and nothing. I am not going to bother calling as I know the customer service rep will not be able to answer my question and will just schedual an appointment for a tech to come out (I know its not their fault). Anyone else have this issue? I realize its not a big deal and I normally dont sweat the small stuff but grrrrr.

  1. ok just to be clear, your complaining that the shows advertised in the little window are not appearing on your ordering options....not that when you order them the "not available" appears on your screen.

this is gonna sound scripted, but...the advertisements they play are generally a nationwide type of setup, yet, whats actually available depends on your system, some have different movies and programs than others just based on your region.  I looked for the d**n HD firelog and christmas music all december before finding this out.

its kind of like how some mcdonalds have different numbers for their meals and specials going on depending on what side of the country your on, even though nation wide they advertise one specific event.

i guess it would cost too much to broadcast region specific advertisments in the ondemand window

another answer would be that you are not subscribed to the specific channel that the program is playing on...for example, if its advertised on starz on demand, but you dont pay for regular starz, then you will not be able to get starz on demand programs either...find out which channel the program you want is on and see if you get the regular version of the channel

now...if when you order the program and it says "not available" there is most likely a problem with your box or the way it is set up, you need to call comcast then.

  2. Do you have a Comcast set-top box for tuning in channels or do you have cable connected directly to your TV?  You'll need a Comcast set-top box or Comcast DVR to get OnDemand.

Next, try going to Channel 1.  Punch in 1, [enter] on your remote.

There may also be an "On Demand" button on your remote.

If neither of those work to get OnDemand to come up, you'll need to contact Comcast customer support to find out what the story is.
