Question:

Come on Jake?

So Jake White has told the SA rugby board he won't be staying after his contract runs out at year-end. November 24th his team play Wales.

I'm hoping to God that Jake White comes to Wales, I think he's just what we need.

Anyone think he'll take the Wales job? Will he be using this last test match against Wales to decide?

  1. Hmmm I'm sure Jake doesn't want to go back to SA rugby and apparently he's releasing a book about the SA rugby board soon. After that I'm sure he won't be welcome near SA rugby, not that he was that welcome to begin with.

But I reckon he would rather go with England or Australia, who are the other two teams being mentioned. Whoever gets him will be lucky and SA rugby will loose out.

I think he'll use this last test against Wales to go out with a big bang. Be afraid be very afraid!

  2. He has it in his contract that he doesn't need to apply for the job to be considered for it.

But I don't think he would or should go for it.

It's all quotas and racism for South Africa again I'm afraid.

I don't think any of the players black or white would want to be there on colour rather than merrit and will surely be the end of a great team.

  3. I have great empathy for Jake. I think he feels that the SA rugby board are very ungrateful after what he has achieved and against all those odds. However the SA rugby board are well known to treat their best and brightest poorly. They got rid of Francois Pienaar at his best, Gary Teichman, Nick Mallet etc etc. There is too much politics involved in SA rugby unfortunately. Jake White is still only 43 and I am sure he will use the game against Wales to suss out his options. If I was him I would do the same. He has nothing to be ashamed of and the rugby world at his feet now. I don't blame him for leaving sa rugby now and starting over. I know he would have liked to be asked to stay because he would have stayed, but he has too much pride and he needs to quit while he is still ahead. It would not have taken long before he was fired for some puny reason anyway? Viva Jake White! Viva the Springboks!!

  4. apparently, there's still a chance that he'll stay on... there have been some conflicting reports in the SA media.  first, SA rugby said that Jake didn't have to reapply for the position, then they said that he wasn't eligible because he didn't reapply now they're saying that he might still be reappointed.  so who knows?  for the sake of SA rugby, i certainly hope he stays (nothing against welsh rugby)

so we shall all have to wait with baited breath until SA rugby decides what they want to do... provided they can pull their heads out of their asses of course ;-)

  5. As applications for the SA coaching job had to be submitted by October 18th, and White did not apply for the post, it is evident he is not going to go for the job!  And who can blame him!!!!

White would be good for Wales, but it seems that the Powers to be at the WRU are chasing Warren Gatland who  is in the running for the post.........but who h**l in their right mind would take the job with the reputation the WRU have of treating their coaches..........sack Lewis, Pickering & Co first and get some decent people to run our game I say!

Not the shower of s**t that is there at the moment!

  6. The world is Jake's oyster at the moment and bully for him! I bet he wants out of the oppressive and highly politicised environment that is SA rugby. The parasites of SA Rugby are waiting in the wings to drain every drop they can from the bucket he has filled and they will selfishly sip from his glory as if it were their own. Go Jake and do your thing leave them behind- you are the man!

Wales, if you get him remember he' s SA born and bred and you will get something so precious, something that no SA politician will ever understand or ever grasp-honesty,skill, ability, responsibility and  THE TRUTH! So yes the Welsh may suit him down to the ground but his decision will not be based on one game but on the team who grab his rugby heart .

  7. whats the question...........this is just a statement

  8. He is more likely to take up a technical post with England than coach Wales, I m sorry to say!

  9. I am pretty sure Jake White wouldnt' want to go to Wales.  He is looking at England, Aus and NZ.

He isn't about fixing c**p teams - he took over the job as Springbok coach because he is a South African.  Since he has suddenly become in demand, surely he would go to a team who actually stands a bit of a change.

Personally, I think England or Australia will get him

  10. Jake has not yet made any decisions.  Apparently his job as the Springboks coach is still his after his contract expires on december 31st if he wants it.  The only vague interest in coaching any other team has been for England.  He will probably make his decision nearer to the end of the year.

EDIT:Jake White has announced that he is to quit as coach of the South African rugby team at the end of the year. White led the Springboks to victory in this year's World Cup.

White has told a news conference in Cape Town that the match against the Barbarians at Twickenham on December 1 will be his last as Springbok coach.

The 43-year-old, who has been in charge of the Boks since 2004, made his announcement after failing to reapply for his job. This is despite reports of a clause in his contract that says his contract will be reviewed after expiry.

  11. I hope Jack will stay but he doesn't like the politics to interfere with sport and I agree with him. I think the problem is with rugby board.
