Question:

Comet looking thing flew through living room?

One night the curtains were closed and a ball of orange/yellow light (about the size of a large melon) with the tail in the front flew between my brother and I as we were sitting in different areas of the living room. It flew through the living room into a mirror in the dining room. We both saw it. It caused no damage but we freaked out about it. It wasn't storming outside. I have to add that it was at my grandfathers house and he'd passed away a few months before, not that that has to do with anything (I think). Anyone know what it was???

  1. I would go with ball lightening suggestion too. Did you notice the air felt any different before or after this? Were you burning any candles?

Ball lightening has some strange effects. One case involved a woman cooking dinner. A similar globe floated in through the wall - passed straight through her, then exited through the window. The strange thing was she was unaffected, but the window had a circular burn mark on it.

  2. Join the club, I thought I saw a comet too..lol but it was in the heavens.

I don't know, never seen anything like that.  Maybe you should check your electric or something.

Edit: Wow LION's link is interesting, never heard of anything like that.  I think he's right, sounds like Ball Lightning.

  3. Sounds a lot like ball lightning. Here is a really interesting article on the subject by National Geographic.

  4. what you saw could of been a ball lightening, but as someone else said, strange energies do manifest....

ill tell you about an incredible experience i had one night....

things in my life were pretty bad, and i was extremely upset on a particular night, i was sitting on my bed, my bedroom window was open...i had terrible thoughts on my mind, when all of a sudden, this brightest whitest light, and it was big, flew through my window, i first caught a glimpse of it approaching my window out side., it flew through my window, across my bed, right next to me, my room looked like it had been lit up by 10 huge spot lights, it flew right through my house, in and out the door ways, and someone was staying in the front lounge, they woke up about 20 minutes before, and they also saw it, fly through the lounge and out the closed window....

the next morning, i didnt know what to say, when i mentioned it, then so did the other person, i asked what time they saw it, and sure enough, it was the same time 4am.....i will never forget that,

around the same time in that year, before that light flew through my home, i was staying with a friend, she would go out alot and id stay there on my own.. i started feeling like there was something else in the house with me, a certain energy, i started seeing little sparks of bright light spark up around the room, i ignored it... then the first night my friend was home with me, we were sitting opposite each other watching tv, when one of them sparks lit up right between us...we both jumped at the same time, now she never knew about these, i had not told her....they started sparking up for hours about one every 15 minutes...we both were a bit worried of what it was, and the fact we could both see them, it was like wow....have you ever lit up one of them sparklers on a stick, thats what the sparks looked like.... i still see them now from time to time....

  7. Sounds like ball lightning. I've never seen it, but my grandma has never forgotten the time she did. Your story sounds similar.

  8. thats crazy i dont know what to say

  9. Ball lightning is an interesting theory.

Another theory that fits with the observation is "kitten."

  10. It is not ball lightening. I had that happen to me and there is a huge explosion that goes with it. If there is no noise and it is that close, it is something else.
