Comets’ Hayley Mavrick joins the Chargers – Volleyball transfer news
The 5-foot-6 inches tall outside hitter (OH) of Eastern High School volleyball team (Comets), Hayley Mavrick, has signed a new contract with the Chargers of Ancilla College, which is two-year junior college situated in Indiana.
In the recent years, the Eastern volleyball top-gun Mavrick showed great performance and served as an absolute throne in the sides of her opponents.
She was a versatile four-year starter for the Eastern volleyball program and during her tenure at Comets, she cemented herself as one of the school’s best athletes. She proved her endeavours as a staunch defensive specialist on the team. However, after spending
four successful seasons with Comets, she has finally decided to move on and has joined Chargers to pursue more success in volleyball.
She helped the Comets in great way and fought for them at many events. She totalled 1,944 kills with Comets and averaged 15.5 kills per match. Mavrick was not only good at offense but she did a great job on the defence side. She collected 1,335 digs and
emerged as the top defender in the Eastern High School team. She helped the Comets to capture Mid-Indiana Conference and Howard County titles in 2008, when she played as freshman in the team. Likewise, she brought a lot more success for the team in coming
years. The Comets settled for country titles in 2010 and 2011 due to Mavrick’s brilliant acts.
The Head Coach of Comets, Meredith Cipriano, praised the great work of Hayley. Cipriano complimented her in the following manner.
She stated, “Hayley has helped us rebuild our program. It’s been no secret in the last few years that we’ve been a lot better than what we were in the 15 years prior to that. And, it’s players like Hayley that have helped us become a winning program. What
she lacks in [physical] stature, she makes up for in her dedication to the team and the offseason program.”
Now that Hayley has signed the deal with Chargers, it is likely that Ancilla will see improvement in the 2012 season.
In 2011, they finished with an overall record of 11-18 and 1-13 record in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association play. The Chargers need to improve their record in the new season and Hayley will provide them a helping hand. She herself is happy
to join Chargers and has big ambitions for the 2012 season.
