Clarissa, my 18yo niece, informed us that she was " COMING OUT ".

I suggested Lavinia ( the Countess ) should take her to the city to buy her trusso, and spend quality time with her, and show her the ropes. ( apparently the Countess already has illuminated her most adequately, and thats what encouraged Clarissa to come out ?) I went on, that perhaps after the shindig at The Palace, we should have a private affair.......

She didnt seem keen, rather more she wanted to spend more time with Lavinia ?

  1. Go!  Do it all the way.  Whatever makes you happy and doesn't scare the horses.

  2. Usually when someone is coming out, they bring their g*y lover along to introduce them.

  3. This question is best dealt with by etiquette experts. The Royalty section deals with questions about royalty,i.e. ,monarchy, past and present.

And the correct spelling is trousseau! I suspect that you aren't an aristocrat as you pretend to be!

  4. If you're going to write spoof posts pretending to be a toff, you should take more trouble to get them right. A debutante does not have or need a "trousseau" - only a bride does.
