Coming back after 2 months off training?

Hey everyone, from Feb 07 til Dec 07 I was training to compete with the hopes of my first fight around nowish, I recently had a few months off due to personal problems. I've never had so much time off before..I had to move countries as well and am finding it hard to find an amateur boxing club in my area, and the house I'm living in has no room for a heavy bag. Whilst I am getting my general strength and cardio back, does anyone have any exercises I could do for my punching power (I've been doing wall isometrics, jabs, crosses etc.), or any freestanding makeshift heavy bag ideas they could share? Any input would be very grateful :)

  1. Fastest way to get in shape is to do 800m repeats, they last just about 2 mins. if not a little bit more. Which is about how long amature boxing is per round. I would recommend plyometrics ( they are great for the fast-twitch muscle).

    Enjoy and best of luck

  2. You are on the right track getting straight back to running and shadow boxing is the most important. All I can think of off the top of my head for not having a heavy bag is if you can have a friend push against your fist while you throw punches you can get a good burn. Then they can change resistance to how hard they push, sometimes just a little(like you're throwing punches under water)is mostly how I do it, with a few sets of them pushing hard to where its almost like doing push ups. The good thing about this is you're using the exact muscles as when you throw a punch because you are throwing punches. Not many resistance exercises do that.

  3. shadow boxing is good, but first do the warm ups, for your power punch to increase add a wrist weight, and pivoting gives you momentum and speed...

    train well and good luck..

    :)
