Coming in from the London Olympics: NBA Players to watch out for – NBA Feature – Part 1
The London Olympics are over and team USA has successfully gone on to win back to back gold medal by beating Spain.
There were a lot of players in the American who came forth to put up spectacular performances for their teams. These players will now look to take their performances into the NBA and use them as a stepping stone to have a good
season.
1. Anthony Davis
The first player on the list of players from the Olympics who are bound to have a successful campaign come the following 2012-13 season. Davis who has achieved much success at such a young age capped of his impressive year with
team USA by winning the gold medal.
He may have not received more playing time and his participation in the gold medal game may have only come in the final minutes of the contest. But it is the experience of being in company of some of NBA’s biggest stars that will
prove to be very beneficial for the New Orleans Hornets star.
However Olympics success is not the only thing Davis has achieved during the year 2012. Starting off with leading the Kentucky Wildcats to an NCAA Championship in his freshmen season earned him all the individual honours college
basketball had to offer.
The performances he put up in his college career earned him the top selection in this year’s draft but as luck would have it. Davis go selected for team USA without having played a single NBA game for the Hornets.
Davis has been labelled as the strongest contender to win the Rookie of the Year honours and having spent the past month or so with the best NBA has to offer, he is most likely to have picked up a thing or two from his American
team-mates.
2. Luol Deng
The second player on the list of players that will take the next NBA season by the storm and cement himself as a top player is Luol Deng of the Chicago Bulls.
Despite being asked not to play in the Olympics in order to recover a wrist injury, Deng remained adamant on representing the country which gave his family political asylum. However, he did not let the injury get in his way as
he put up some astounding performances.
He led Great Britain against Spain and Russia with 26 points and had he been blessed with a lot more talent in form of his team mates. He would have led team GB deeper into the knockout stages.
However Deng did not achieve the spectacular feat in the Olympics alone. He came into the event with his best ever individual season with the Bulls which was capped off by his first ever All-Star selection.
So coming into next season’s campaign, the Bulls would have to look no further in their search for a leader while Derrick Rose recovers from knee injury. The 2012-13 campaign would just be a stepping stone for Deng who has proven
that he can lead a team not only with his scoring but has the ability to pass the ball very well.
