Coming of age for Greek girls?

I notice that in Mexico's culture they have their "coming of age" party at 15 for American and Canadian girls it is 16. Does Greece have this custom, is it the same age as American girls?

*NOTE* this has nothing to do w/ me going to Greece I am only asking because of research for a assignment featuring Greece in college. Like my first Question they assumed it was cause I am going to Greece. ;-)

THANK YOU!!

  1. Even the old ladies are called (kopella) girls by their friends.

  2. Ralph ,this question says about Greek girls and not Greek boys...

Do you have a problem to see the difference between the two sexes?

    I agree with serentipity

  3. Greek people live at home with their parents well into their 40s and 50s.  Greek men are what we would consider in North America as "Mama's Boys". Some say its for financial reasons, but I think it's because they like having slave labor from their mothers.  My neighbor is a sucessful Greek Banker and sure enough he has his mother (60s) cutting the grass with the lawnmower instead of him.  How classy!

  4. There is no offical; coming of age for males or females in Greece, although it is considered that a man has "come of age" when he does his army duty.

In the past, a girl was considered a woman after marriage, because of thgis I am still considered a "girl" at 35, because I choose to stay unmarried. Which is still extremely unusual in Greece, although it is slowqy becoming accepted.

  5. No there is no official ceremony like that.
