I am on APO Seratralin (Zollif) and I recently just went on 100's from 50 's 2 weeks ago.

Now, I am having chills, light headed, sick to my stomach etc and I told my pharmasist and she told me to stop them immed.

Trusting her I plan too...but can this hurt me from stopping cold turkey?

I am really scared and sick of the way I am feeling can someone help me?

  1. you should discuss this with your g.p. as some drugs you need to be weaned from slowly others can be swapped straight away to some thing else

  2. Go see your doctor for more advice before doing anything.

  3. I don't think that is the reaction your supposed to get when your changing meds? I would go back to my Dr. and demand that something else be subscribed to you. And going cold turkey is very dangerous, could cause siezures, convulsions, coma and heart failure. Never go off any narcs that are prescribed to you dependinng on how long you have been taking them. As for the pharmisists get the name and and tell your Dr. the side effects your having. Call your Dr. NOW!

  4. s***w your pharmacist, get off of them and dont take them again.

try vegetables  become a vegetarian, dont smoke and drink , walk for alteast an hour every night, drink plenty of water only,  3 months you will be feeling much better.

  5. If you recently increased your dosgae (under instruction from your dr) then why on earth would you go cold turkey...you are obviously not well. These symptoms are common when increasing dosages, but usually settle after a week or two.......

See  your Doctor......if your symptoms are too distressing for you, I would imagine they would recommend reverting back to 50's (if they were ok for you) or trying an alternative. if you really wanted to stop taking them, ordinarily you would gradually reduce your dosage over the course of a few weeks in order to minimise the shock to your bady and the subsequent sideeffects.

It is very dangerous to suddenly stop taking antidepressants...perhaps your pharmacist is not very familiar with mental health..........all psych drugs need supervision..........

My husband is currently in hospital after reducing his dosage of antidepressants  (under supervision from his psych) caused a drastic episode of deep depression and cutting (sudden changes can also cause suicidal ideation)......

Please see your Doctor...because these unique drugs affect yur mental status, they are not as straightforward as other drugs in terms of stopping/starting.

I wish you all the very best......but please seek medical advise.

  6. You do not want to stop cold turkey.I did that just a few weeks ago and I had serious withdrawal.I am now back on them but I am weaning off.I was on 10 mg. of lexapro. What my doctor told me to do is for 1 week take it every other day then take it every 3rd day for a week than stop. You need to slowly decrease the amount. But make sure you talk to your doctor first to let them know what you are doing. If at all possible try other methods instead of meds.I know some situations you really do need medication, but I wish I never would have started them.Good luck.

  7. I'm assuming you mean Zoloft (I think that's how it's spelled). Perhaps you should try taking 75 instead of 100. (just break one in half and take 1.5 pills per day). You should always consult your doctor before changing something like this.

And really it depends on how long you've been taking it to know if it will have an adverse effect. I took an antidepressant when I was in high school and was told to take it for at least 6 months. The reason was that if I stopped before that, and needed to get back on it later on in life, it wouldn't work correctly. But when I did finally quit (after a couple years), I quit cold turkey (off of 100). I didn't have any problems afterward.

Those symptoms are some of the side effects of Zoloft. I firmly recommend consulting your doctor before changing too much. Try 75 until you get a hold of him/her.

    Good luck.

  8. I've had a similar issue before.  You will have to go back to the doctor's.  Your body is not accepting the 100's.  If you can, go back to the 50's until you see your doctor again.  I was on Effexor.  When I was on the lower dose I was fine but my doctor said that the lower dose was not a "clinical" dose so we needed to increase the dose slowly.  By the time I got to the clinical dose I felt ill all the time and I was having night sweats and felt like I was in lala land all the time.  Now I take Omega 3 vitamins everyday and I no longer need the Effexor.  The Omega 3 that I take is for healthy brain.  It is different than the healthy heart.  Try it out.  Good luck.
