Question:

Coming off the Pill, TTC, waiting for regular cycle to return...?

I took my last pill on June 17th (skipping the last week of placebos). So my cycle came about a day later than normal on June 20th. I had a very light flow the 20th, lighter on the 21st, and it was gone by Sunday the 22nd. My first cycle off the pill was 49 days (I know this is normal as my body adjusts). So my last cycle was August 8-10th, again a very light cycle. Typically on the pill my cycles were at least 5 days long and a medium to slightly heavy flow. Before the pill my cycles were about the same. So what's with my cycle being so light and lasting on a couple days?

  2. Your hormone cycle is probably out of whack from going off of hormones.  Give it a couple of months and if your cycle doesn't regulate, see your doctor.  If you weren't ovulating, your period would be late and especially heavy and crampy with lost of solid clumps.  It's pretty gross.  You're fine, you just need to be patient.

  3. It takes the average woman 2-6 months to recover from extended birth control use, however in some cases it can take up to a year.  This is normal, and during this time your cycle may be short, long, light, heavy or any other kind of irregular.  If it takes longer than that, you should see the doctor.  The other, less likely problem is that you had an issue before you started taking the pills (or maybe were given the pills to regulate your cycle in the first place).  In that case, it may be a combination of your body coming off the pills and your old problem returning, or just your old problem returning.  In that case since you know already that you have a fertility issue, you should see your doctor immediately.  They will still likely have to wait for the birth control to completely clear your system to perform tests, but every case is different and if you know you need medical assistance, the doctor can give you a timeline that is appropriate for your case.  Good luck!
