Coming to America?

Why do you think so many people want to come to America? I know some come for the welfare, but other then that, what?

I currently live in the united kingdom, However i plan to move to amercia hopefully within a few years.

My main purpose of moving there is work, I know a few people over there at various companys that i would like to work at.

I do think quite a few people move over there for jobs, etc.

America is the land of opportunity { i dont care how u spell it =] }. they come here for a better life and to achieve something in this great country.

People themselves come for opportunity. You can sit around collecting welfare, I believe it's limited to 3 or 5 years,. something like that. Or you can work as many jobs as you want, as hard and long as you want, and become wealthy. As a legal citizen of the United States, the only thing that will limit you from becoming successful, is yourself.

Others come to escape oppression, and security. Others for the freedom. Investors invest here, because it's the lest likely country to become nationalized, or attacked and invaded.

Probably the same reason they want to come to Australia.  The Government is an easy touch will no balls.  I'm all for helping refugees, but shouldn't charity begin at home? Homelessness and poverty is a major problem here, yet the Government is still encouraging migrants, offering them housing and welfare, yet watch our own people live on the streets.

Most come for better opportunities.

I heard and interesting theory from a knowledgable source that indicates many people from 2nd and lower level countries come because they can't compete in their native countries with American Fair Trade situations. That is, many are not able to compete within their own country and are forced to draw to the source of income ...the dominant USA or Great Brittain or some areas of Paris and Germany.

This is the way of our world. The little and poor are being forced to leave their homes in order to survive American style Free trade. They apparently can't compete.

Interesting. I don't know if it's true but it's a thought for you.

Mainly to work. Not much else other than to sponge off the taxpayers.
