What is the culture over there? I don't want to appear rude or offend anyone. What should I know about the people?

Thank you. :)

  1. Sydney is a very  very multi cultural place anyway, you really won't have a problem.  Just stay out of the areas like REDFERN, and the western suburbs.

Culture in the areas i lived were great - Bondi Beach is where i lived and it was very cruisey, lots of travelers, cafe's, restaurants, fashion wise, any thing goes! It's very surfy, lovely beaches, go topless if you want Fat or skinny no body cares which is why i loved it there Bondi gives you a chance to be your self, i really didn't find hardy any judgemental people there.

If you want to arrive in bondi for a look.

Jump on a train from the city - 1 train to Bondi Junction, have a look around do some shopping, walk or bus (380) to the bondi beach, ar bless... this place is great you'll love it.

Especially if you stay around the eastern side.

    Good luck have fun !!

If your American !!! Please don't go on about how much better your country is than ours, of course you may find The US to be more advanced than Aus but hey that's why we are so layd back i say.  Americans that i have met on my travels always seem to compare??? Why i don't know. But Australia is sooo much nicer haha...  And also Australia just does not exist of Sydney we have an amazing diverse country so you should check it out.

  2. Just like most other western countries. Into capitalism, hedonism and consumerism.

  3. just be yourself,be respectful of Australian culture and you will be just fine

    we don't bite!..................    much

  4. they're very proud of their country ... so praise their country, praise all australians and say it's the best place in the world ... just never ever insinuate that the UK or USA are better

  5. We're a very laid back lot, so you'll be ok. Just don't tell people the USA is better than Australia, you'll be burnt at the stake.

The culture is a mix of British, southern Europe and California, with a bit of Asia mixed in for good measure. We're like all other Western countries, but much, MUCH friendlier.

  6. Sydney is as laid back as anything.

Nothing offends us except one thing which is saying we are a mini-America.

    Other than that...nothing

You can kiss someone the same s*x as you, wear nothing but a bikini in the middle of the city, hug strangers on the street, scream at the top of your lungs or even roll around on the ground.

It's all been done before, people won't even stop to stare. We're also nice, anyone will help you find your way or give you advice. It's very treat people how you want to be treated in Sydney.

    Welcome to Sydney!
