Under a command economy, a focus is put on industrial goods, at the expense of consumer goods.

What is an example of industrial goods and why is it important to build up industry at the expense of other products?

Some examples of industrial goods could be machinery, equipment etc. Industrial goods are used as tools for production - so they promote economical growth and keep it above normal level allowing country come to higher level of development much faster by the account of few (or one) current generations. People just consume less and produce more under such conditions.
