  1. Photolysis is the splitting of water by light in photosynthesis.

    H2O <---> 1/2 O2 + 2H+ & 2 electrons.

    The 2 electrons replace the 2 electrons displaced from Photosystem II by light and the H+ are used to reduce NADP to NADPH which is used in the dark stage to help fix CO2.
