Comments on Evolution?

I believe in God and I can certainly see the arguement re Evolution. This has always been one debate I am interested in but somehow the two just don't meet...is it not possible that the one can substantiate or back the other?

  1. I believe in the separation of Religion and Science, as they are mutually exclusive for me.

Science in general will never be able to explain everything about our world (see Socrates: the more you know, the more you don't know).  And religion has always been there to fill the gap for people.

Its unfortunate that too many people have thought of Science and Reason as the enemies of Religion, and seek to teach things in school that are not scholarly.

  2. The biggest threat to evolution is DNA code.

The code in DNA is so complex that man will never be able to duplicate it even if he had all the chemicals available.

All evolutionist ignore how DNA code invented itself all by itself just by some fluke of a chance.  It is simpler to believe that if you took some dynamite and blew up a tree that a table and chairs would come out.

  3. I am a religious person but it doesn't mean that I believe the writings of people 3000 years ago trying to explain science.  The idea that the Earth and humans were created in their present form is just simply ignorant.  The two sides could meet but it requires that fundamentalists adopt a more humble attitude and not assume that they understand everything.  The same is true of the scientists but many of their opinions are fact like animals changing over vast times.  Those that insist on propagating the nonsense called intelligent design or to deny evolution are just discrediting themselves because they are obviously wrong.

  4. Evolution is not a threat to religion. Religion addresses ultimate questions that science cannot answer. E.g. Is there a god? How does god want us to live? These are questions beyond the scope of science, and any scientist realizes this. Most people of faith also realize that religion should not be invoked to answer questions of science. If you look at the Catholic church, there is no conflict between the theory of evolution and their beliefs. Only a small number of people feel that their faith is somehow threatened by the theory of evolution. These are the unreasonable ones - the ones who refuse to distinguish between evidence-based reality and faith-based philosophy.

  5. Evolution is an accurate understanding of the proven principles, and physical laws within the created universe!

Prior to the creation of the universe is off-limits, since science has determined that nothing about that state can be known through the scientific method!

The problem arises, when certain religious figures begin to talk about the magical nature of that reality, without any evidence to back it up! Often these individuals range from 12 year-olds, to chemically imbalanced seniors!

However, the mystery remains, that the universe was either created accidentally or intentionally, yet no one has been able to transcend time & space convincingly enough, to reveal to everyone, how to know the true nature of this reality, in the same way!

  6. The theory of evolution says nothing about God one way or the other.  Religious zealots find it offensive because it contradicts a literal interpretation of their Creation mythology.  Science does not - and so far, cannot - reach any conclusions about existence or nature of God.

  7. Nope!
