Comments on ninja 250?

i love the ninja 250!! new and old. 55-70 mpg, easy on tires, cheaper insurance. all that sounds nice but i live in buffalo ny and as many people know, a 55mph speed limit is more like 70-75. will the 250 handle this? its only for about a 10 mile max at one shot. I'm a college student and want to get a bike. i like the sv650s but i can get a ninja 250 cheaper and easier. should i get one, learn to ride, get the great mpg and then sell and upgrade later? ill be using to get from my college to my girlfriends and to work along with some small errands. i ride mostly city except for the ocasional highway hop.

ps... which one is better? new vs old stats

ninja 25o will wind up to about 90 mph at it's top end, so no worries there...

go used, it's cheaper...

i have a 01 ninja 250 and i love it. eliminate the fender and it looks sweet.  if it is your first bike get a used one, because if you lay it over then you wont feel as bad, then if you just spent $3500 on a new one.  i got mine up to 90 with no problems, it could have gone faster but that was faster then i wanted to go.  it is cheap to insure, mine is $77 a year

09 Ninja 250R ... will be a better first bike if you're doing alot of local riding (stop n' go...red lights etc) it looks great and it's cheap and it's great on the gas mileage.....

if you ride a lot of highway etc then get a bigger bike the SV650S is a great looking bike...if you plan on keeping the bike for longer and do some country cruising where you have to keep up or speed up faster then get the SV....
