Commercial Airline Pilot Qualifications?

What are the qualifications you need to train as a commercial airline pilot with airlines such as Easyjet. I am currently 15 and training in a Censsna 152. I have only done 7 hours of my 44 but my aim in life is to become a commercial airline pilot and I just want to know what to prepare for.

Any help would be great thanks!!

  1. I know a lady pilot, and also there is a pilot in my extended family.

Not sure that it matters what country you're in [other than I'm curious now] because the second one is doing international flights now....

There is a progression, and why it CAN be expensive...

Private pilot License, then multi-engine ratings, IFR certification [you probably already know some of this if you've started....]

But the biggest thing is the pre-requisite hours of flight time [thousands] for commercial airlines, not to mention jet ratings, etc.

Good heart health and eyesight are required also as mentioned above...

The lady pilot I know was in the Air Force, which really helped getting the hours.

I have seen on American TV that a pilot shortage is anticipated as many are reaching retirement age.

There are some airlines that are even paying for training.... but I'm sure it's not at the entry level, unless college scholarships....

In Florida, we have flight schools at Embry Riddle Univ. in Daytona Beach, and also Florida Tech, in Melbourne.

Hope you get some good opportunities wherever you are...

  2. I dunno about the US but in Europe the main qualification you need to have is being able to get you hands on A LOT OF MONEY about US$130.000

Besides that you need to have a good health ( nothing like superman or anything just normal good health ) good grades in Physics English and math.

  3. You mentioned EasyJet, so I assume you fly in Europe/UK somewhere. Here are all the things you will ever want to know about EU licensing, through the JAA.
