  1. Depending on your age, the best bet for you may be an 'ab-initio' training scheme offered by a major air carrier. British Airways and some other European state run carriers still offer this kind of training. Overseas airlines such as Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Etihad etc, are also a good place to look but sometimes there are residency issues. Currently there is a hiring boom in the Middle Eastern Market. But most importantly, most pilot forums are filled with bad luck stories and prevailing megative attitudes towards new starters so stick with the good news that you get. Pprune is a good forum but, again remember above. It won't be easy, but it is possible. You will have to look for it. As far as financial aid, it will be hard with $119/ barrel oil. If you can get to the States you might be able to turn that 4 grand into a PPL and hopefully meet some people along the way...Good luck!!
