    Good Luck...

  2. Schedules vary a lot, but generally regional and airline pilot schedules are built into 3-4 day "trips".  Expect to be away from the home base during a trip.  Expect about 4 to 5 trips a month.  Most pilots do not live at their base, so they have to commute (on the airlines) the day before a trip starts and commute home at the end of a trip.  Being scheduled 15 to 18 days a month is pretty typical.  Add another 5 days or so a month for commuting.

Corporate flying varies.  Some companies have you home nearly every night.  Some fly a 7-on, 7-off schedule, meaning you'd be on duty for 7 days straight and then have another 7 days completely off.  I am a corporate pilot, but my schedule all depends on the demand for the airplanes.  Sometimes I work 25 days a month, sometimes I work 8 days a month.  On average, I spend 5 nights a month in a hotel.  But again, this all varies vastly by company.

As for days off, you can pre-arrange vacation days, just like in most other kinds of jobs.  The number of vacation days you have per year generally depends on how long you've been with the company.
