  1. I think you'll find that most professional pilots would rather not say their airline or talk about salaries or business conditions.  You can find some information about these things on the internet.

I flew charter and instruction in Cessnas and Pipers many years ago, and then lucked into an air cargo job flying a wonderful old WW2 cargo plane with four radial engines (a C-118).  In many ways that was the most fun of my career.  Then I flew a 727 and then a 747.  Nothing beats the 747 as a pilot's airplane in the modern world.

Being retired, I will venture to say that the future does not look good for "the business."  It would be risky to count on it for a full-life career in today's economy.  The transportation future belongs to the railroads, and there are some rewarding careers there.

But if it is the love of flying that excites you, and you are willing to put up with some bad conditions and low to almost nonexistent pay, it can really feel good.  A complex decision, but, hey, go for it!  Maybe.

  2. Falcon16...you mean you work for a COMMUTER airline.  Northwest does not own nor lease CRJ's.  Your claim to work for Northwest Airlines is not only misleading but out right false.  Either you work for pinacle or mesaba...not Northwest.

  3. I agree with the 747 retired pilot, I'm not a pilot but I do have something to say Im a sciences major and that man is right do not do this for a career if you love it fine but ... within 10 years there will be major changes to the industry the price of flying will skyrocket and less people will be able to fly ...leaving a surplus of pilots making salaries lower and work scarce.  This will be becuase of environmental acts ect

  4. It is a lot of hard work and **** pay for the first few years but you cant beat the view from your office!!!

  5. oh i'm not a pilot but i got something important to say

    .........................................

    hi!!!!!!

  6. If you're in it for the flying, and not for the reputed "Big Bucks," then it's the best way to avoid work that I know of.

  7. I work for Northwest Airlines flying a CRJ just a little bird but its fun you can feel free to contact me for anymore info.
