Ok hears my situation, I just ask a question yesterday or two days ago about loans to go through flight school and how much it cost everyone for training well heres my situation.....

I'm currently attending a local community college and majoring in Engineeing, however I really want to switch into a flight program because Ive wanted to be a pilot since I was 11 and I don't want to get a job in something I don't enjoy. Well im a year into the engineering but I wouldn't have a problem transfering into my communitty colleges flight degree.... They estimate the flight cost in the degree over the two years to be around $32,000 or so. Tuition at the school is around 3,400 a year.... I plan on transfering into a four year school and get a 4 year degree with aviation and minor in buisness.... While away at school I will be a flight intructor hopefully to build hours.. Heres the problem--------------

I work for Delta Airlines making $9.00/hr, live at home but really want to get into this

  1. If you don't have the money, and don't win the lottery or anything, then I'm afraid your options are pretty limited.  If you really want to get into aviation and can't afford the training, then I would definitely say the military is a good route.  I know the USMC has a program where they guarantee you a flight spot if you meet certain conditions.  I don't know if the military fits with your personality/lifestyle, but it's probably the best option considering your circumstances.

  2. I am a Comm. pilot with my ASEL & AMEL w/inst. and have almost 700 hrs. I am still a rookie in this buisness, but I have met quite a few people. I actually had my grandparents co-sign(a co-signer will only be on the loan for 2 yrs. by the way, then they will not have anything to do with it at all after that), but if you absolutely can't get anybody else at all. I know several people who fly with the Civil Air Patrol and you pay like $25 a flight hr. very cheap and get free instruction by flying with instructors in the CAP. Starting with Pvt. and Instrument, & Commercial. Check them out definately. Good Luck.
