I've saved up tsome money so I want to buy me something like XM radio that doesn't play commercials and has a variety of stations to choose from. However, I don't know anything. I don't know a competitor of XM radio, price ranges, or anything of that nature.

So any ifnromation you could help me out with I'd appreciate.

  1. Sirius is also a satellite radio. However XM and sirus is mergeing. I had XM radio for 1 year and they did in fact have commercials. I wasn't impressed with the music either. They do have a lot of stations, but now with the cost of gas over 4.00 unless you drive at least 20,000 miles a year, I don't think its worth the price. Buy a good quality CD player and choose what you want to listen to. Good Luck

  2. I have a couple friends who have Sirius radio and they are happy with it.  The one friend plays 70's music only and I love it.  He used to play Cd's which was great, but he had to change them.  It can hook up in a vehicle, at work, or at home.  You just need an adapter.  He pays a monthly fee for the Sirius.   I think free radio is the best.  I have a lot of stations I like, so when a commercial comes on I just change the station...no big deal.   Good luck with whatever your choice is.

  3. Sirius is what I have. Your only options are XM and Sirius for right now. But there is some sort of merger between the two in the future. Unlike the previous answerer said with XM, Sirius does not have commercials on the music stations.  The Howard Stern channel does have commercials on it. With Sirius, you can get a receiver and listen to it in your house. I have it hooked up through our home entertainment center. They also sell a unit (I don't have it) you are able to listen to anytime with some special headphones on the go. I am pretty pleased with the music channel selection and they are pretty clearly named so you know what the channel plays, not named with a stupid persons name so you have no idea what the format is. We pay for our service a year at a time, but I think it averages somewhere around $12 a month.

  4. There are a few free online radio stations that are great. There's Pandora, Last FM, AOL Radio and Live 365 to name a few. Some of these even allow you to download a player to your computer's desktop. Commercials on these are so minimal, you hardly notice them.
