I m a student in +2, and i want to take commercial pilot as my career.

Basically I want to ask what is the career opportunity in this profession? (As it requires a huge initial investment)

Can i think of a successful career in this profession?

Is it easy to make into some good airline company (after 2 years of training) ?

  1. Ofcouse you can go for it!

  2. go ahead by all means. India is short of at least 1000 pilots.,

  3. Well, I will warn you. Its a good choice but the current situation in India is worse)

I would advice you to do some engineering degree or to do any other degree and then go for CPL. If you fail in Class 1, then the engineering degree will give you a back-up.

There are many vacancies for pilot in India. But its for the left-hand side (captain) and not for the right-hand side (co-pilot). For the vacancy of 30 co-pilots, more than 500 apply, 100 get selected and finally 30 get the job.

So do any engineering degree and then go for CPL. And an engineering degree is a credit to a pilot. When you apply in an airline, you get more chances of getting selected. Bcoz the others would be just a +12 pass out with CPL. But you would have an eng degree. So finish an engineering degree and then go for CPL.

  4. Good Prospects ! go ahead. !
